Fact Sheet
Mini Us
M33, the Triangulum galaxy, is like a miniature version of the Milky Way. It has a big bulge of stars in the center surrounded by bright spiral arms, dark dust lanes, and bright knots where new stars are being born. It is about half as wide as the Milky Way and about one-tenth as massive. It is a member of the same small cluster of galaxies as the Milky Way, known as the Local Group.
