Fact Sheet
Stellar Nursery
New stars are taking shape in this giant stellar nursery, known as Rho Ophiuchi, in a view from Spitzer Space Telescope. The stars are born from the giant clouds of gas and dust that fill most of the image. Cocoons of gas around young stars may give birth to planets. This false-color image was created by color-coding different wavelengths of infrared energy, which are produced by heat. [NASA/JPL/CFA]
