Fact Sheet
Star Bubble
An expanding bubble of gas is triggering the birth of new stars in this infrared image from the orbiting Spitzer Space Telescope. Two clumps of newborn stars are visible in the small loop at the bottom of the big bubble and just to the right of the opening at the top of the bubble. The bubble measures about 70 light-years in diameter, and is about 17,000 light-years away. SST views the universe in infrared wavelengths, which are invisible to the human eye. [Credit: NASA/JPL/E.
