Fact Sheet
Faster Than a Speeding Galaxy Cluster
A new image from several telescopes on the ground and in space shows the interaction between two giant galaxy clusters, which together are known as the Bullet Cluster. The background image shows the galaxies in visible light. The pink in the center is the X-ray glow of superhot gas between galaxies in the cluster, captured by Chandra X-Ray Observatory. And the blue shows the location of dark matter, which was detected through its gravitational effects on the galaxies around it.
