Fact Sheet
Exploding Comet
A comet that is more than 150 million miles from the Sun is bright enough to see with the unaided eye after a spectacular outburst in late October. In just two days, Comet Holmes grew a million times brighter. It is visible in the constellation Perseus, which is low in the northeast in early evening and passes almost directly overhead after midnight. [NASA/Tim Jones]
